Description
Hydro-detergent medicine composed of polyacrylate gelling polyabsorbent fibers with acrylic core, which guarantee a detersion and debridement capacity of the lesion fund (from slough, fibrine and debris) with TLC-NOSF healing matrix (polyido-colloidal technology with octasulphate sucrose of potassium).
UrgoStart Plus Pad is indicated for the treatment of uninfected exudatory lesions, in the specification of long-term or potentially such lesions (e.g. vascular lesions, diabetic foot lesions, pressure lesions), in all stages of the healing process.
In contact with the bottom of the lesion the hydro-detergenti fibers in polyacrylate, extremely hydrophilic, absorb the exodus, leading to swelling and subsequent gelification of the same fibers, maintaining the humid environment fundamental for healing and the ability to stimulate a slight autolitic debridement. In the while, the fibers disengage mechanically and attract with electrostatic mechanism slough, fibrine, debris and bacteria, trapping them into the dressing and limiting bacterial proliferation, while they allow detersion and debridement of the bottom of the continuous but progressive lesion and protect the perilesional skin, thanks to a vertical absorption mechanism.
The gelification of the fibers, moreover, allows the not of the dressing at the bottom of the lesion, allowing the atraumatic removal for the tissues and without pain for the patient, but maintaining a high cohesion of the dressing that allows removal in a single piece.
Finally, the composition of the dressing allows to obtain the management of minor bleeding, thanks to its hemostatic properties.
The micro-adhesive layer in TLC in contact with the exodus of the wound, sees the formation of a lipid-colloidal gel, thanks to the interaction between hydrocolloid particles and vaseline, which creates a humid environment favorable to the process of healing of the lesion, able to stimulate the proliferation of the key cells for tissue repair. The TLC matrix has proven to stimulate the proliferation of 70% fibroblasts and increase the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and the production of collagen respectively of 53% and 80%. The lipid substances of the TLC matrix contribute to the non-adhesion of the treatment at the bottom of the lesion with consequent atraumatic dressing changes for the neoformed tissues and without pain for the patient. The ease of application and removal of medicine, in addition to its effectiveness, has also been evaluated with clinical studies, on thousands of patients.
The presence of octasulphate sucrose in the dressing, moreover, gives it properties of modulation of the metalloproteinsis, allowing better healing rates than the neutral dressing, resulting in reduction of the healing time, to the point that it has allowed the insertion in the NICE and IWGDF recommendations as recommended dressing for the treatment of lesions of the lower limbs and the diabetic foot, in virtue of its cost-effectiveness.
In contact with the exudate of the wound, the TLC-NOSF technology of UrgoStart Plus Pad gels. Thanks to this hydrophilic gelification and the presence of lipophile substances in the composition, this technology:
- absorbs the components of the exudate of the lesion, including enzymes called metalloproteinsis of matrix (MMP), whose high levels have been related to delays in the healing of chronic wounds;
- maintains the humid environment necessary for wound healing.
Promotion of debridement/detersion:
- fibers trap fibrine, sloguh, debris and make them debris from injury when the dressing is removed.
Hemostatic properties:
- in the case of small hemorrhages, the adsorption of plasma proteins by polyacrylate fibers, leads to the activation of coagulation and adherence of platelets, which initiate and have a synergistic effect on blood clotting.
Promotion of comfort:
- the device is soft and flexible and the gelled TLC-NOSF technology lubricates the contact surface. These properties make the device conformable, reduce friction and make the device comfortable.
To ensure atraumatic removal for injury and perilesional skin and allow easy removal:
- the humid environment prevents the exudate from drying out. In addition, gelled TLC-NOSF technology lubricates the contact surface, preventing the dressing from sticking to the bed of the injury when removed, so as not to resist removal and not cause pain to the patient.
Mode of use
- The micro-adhesive layer of UrgoStart can adhere to latex surgical gloves. It is therefore recommended to avoid contact or use sterile pliers.
- Determine the injury with physiological solution.
- In case of use of an antiseptic, rinse the lesion with physiological solution before the application of UrgoStart Plus Pad and dry the perilesional skin.
- UrgoStart can be cut with sterile scissors to fit the size of the lesion.
- Use of UrgoStart Plus does not replace mechanical debridement if necessary.
- Remove transparent protective film.
- Apply the microadhesive side of UrgoStart Plus on the lesion.
- Keep in place the dressing with a secondary dressing, adhesive patch or bandage, even compressed if prescribed.
- UrgoStart Plus Pad can be left in place for up to 7 days, depending on the clinical conditions and the local protocol.
Warnings
Contraindications:
- note sensitivity to dressing or to one of its components;
- malignant injuries;
- fistylized injuries;
- injuries from bullying epidermis;
- necrotic injuries.
- If clinical signs of local infection appear, the treatment should be modified in favor of antimicrobial treatment, according to medical advice.
- In case of atypical ulcers with signs of hardening or excessive granulation, it is recommended to use UrgoStart Plus Pad only after having verified the absence of degeneration associated with injury, in order not to delay the diagnosis.
- At the beginning of the treatment, it is possible that a urticant/dolorous sensation occurs resulting in the activation of the healing process. This rarely involves the suspension of therapy.
- In the absence of clinical data as a first-line treatment of acute injuries and in the treatment of Bollosa epidermis (even in case of old-time injuries), the use of UrgoStart Plus Pad is not recommended.
- UrgoStart Plus Pad should not be used in hyperbaric chamber.
- In the absence of specific clinical data UrgoStart is not recommended for treating injuries on children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Concurrent use of creams, ointments or emulsions is not recommended.
- Do not use if the packaging is damaged.
- Make sure that sterile protection is intact before use. Do not use the medication if damaged.
- Disposable, do not resterilize the dressing.
Conservation
Store at a temperature below 25°C and away from light and moisture sources.
Validity of whole packaging: 36 months.
