TEST ALCOL
MUNUS MEDICAL
Description
Monophase, rapid screening test for semi-quantitative alcohol detection in human saliva.
Alcohol testing is a rapid and highly sensitive method to detect the presence of alcohol in human saliva and provide a approximation of the relative concentration of blood alcohol.
This test only provides preliminary screening.
To obtain a confirmed analytical result you need to use a more specific alternative chemical method.
Mode of use
Before testing, let the test box, sample and/or controls reach room temperature (15-30 °C).
Do not put anything in your mouth for 15 minutes before the start of the test.
This includes soft drinks, tobacco products, coffee, mints and food, etc.
Bring the envelope to room temperature before opening it. Extract the test from the sealed envelope and use it within an hour.
Remove the collector from the sealed envelope and insert in the mouth the sponge end of the collector. Actively Tampon the inside of the mouth and tongue to collect saliva for a total of 3 minutes until the sponge is saturated completely. A slight pressure of the sponge between the tongue and the teeth will help saturation. You should not feel hard spots on the sponge when it is saturated.
Remove the collector from the mouth. Place the saturated saliva collector in the collection tube and fully press the sponge against the filter to collect the saliva. Drop the collector. Close the cap of the collection test.
Place the test box on a clean and flat surface. Unscrew the cover cap from the collection test. Turn the collection test tube, transfer 3 drops of saliva (about 120 mcL) into the test box sample well and start the timer. Avoid trapped air bubbles in the sample cockpit. Place the screw cap on the collection test.
Read results in 3-5 minutes.
Compare the color of the reaction pad and the standard color card to determine the relative concentration of alcohol in the blood.
Interpretation of results
Positive: the alcohol test will produce a change of color in the presence of salivary alcohol. The color will vary from light blue to a relative concentration of blood alcohol of 0.20g/L to a dark blue near a relative concentration of blood alcohol of 1.50 g/L. Colorful tampons are provided within this range to allow a approximation of the relative concentration of blood alcohol. The test can produce colors that seem to be between adjacent coloured pads.
Negative: if the alcohol test does not show any color change, this must be interpreted as a negative result, which indicates that alcohol was not detected.
Not valid: if the colored tampon is blue before applying the saliva sample, do not use the test.
Note: Alcohol testing is very sensitive to alcohol. A lighter blue color of the 0.20g/L coloured tampon should be interpreted as positive in the presence of alcohol in the saliva but less than 0.20g/L of relative blood alcohol.
Warnings
Before running the test, carefully read the entire package leaflet.
For autotest, not for in vitro diagnostic use.
Only for external use.
Do not use the test after the expiry date shown on the package.
Do not use the test if the aluminum envelope is torn or damaged.
Disposable, dispose after first use.
The test device must remain in the sealed packaging until use.
A contaminated sample can give false results.
Keep out of reach of children.
Conservation
It must be stored at 2-30 °C in its packaging.
Format
Pack of 2 pieces.
