Description
The GlucoMen areo GK and GlucoMen area Sensor and GlucoMen areo beta-Ketone sensor are in vitro diagnostic medical devices for the quantitative determination of glucose concentration in the whole fresh capillary blood taken from fingertips, palm and avambrace and beta-hydroxybutirrate (beta-chetone) in the whole fresh capillary blood.
Indicated for self-control of diabetes mellitus, for the monitoring and control of blood sugar and ketonemia, can also be used in hospital environment by medical-sanitary personnel.
They are not intended for diagnosis or screening of diabetes and chetonemia, nor for use on infants.
Do not change your therapy on the basis of the result of the tests carried out with the instrument without first consulting your doctor or health care staff.
Mode of use
It is possible to quantify the blood glucose levels taken from the calstrelli, or alternative sites such as the palm of the hand or the forearm.
However the results of the blood test taken from alternative sites may differ from the measurements obtained with blood from the palm of the hand or from the forearm.
Use blood from: fingertips, palm, forearm (before meals, two hours or more after meals, two or more after physical activity);fingertips [quando è possibile un cambiamento rapido dei livelli glicemici (ad es. dopo i pasti o un'attività fisica), quando si manifestano sintomi da ipoglicemia quali sudorazione, sudori freddi, sensazione di galleggiamento o tremore, quando è necessario eseguire immediatamente un test per sospetta ipoglicemia, quando le condizioni fisiche non sono delle migliori, ad esempio se raffreddati, ecc.].
Glycemia test
Introduce a new GlucoMen areo sensor (white color) in the opening for sensor input.
The drop symbol will start flashing on the display and the glucose symbol "glu" will appear at the bottom left.
If nothing appears on the display, remove the sensor, reinsert it into the opening and wait for the drop symbol to start flashing.
Keep the sensor end in contact with the blood drop until the control visor is filled.
At that point you will hear an acoustic signal (if enabled) and the display will display a countdown.
Read the test results.
An acoustic signal will announce the appearance on the screen of the test result with the "glu" glucose symbol.
To remove the sensor, press the expulsion button.
The tool will turn off.
Glucose testing using the control solution
Perform a control test if: you suspect that your GlucoMen areo sensor meter or sensor is not working properly, you have dropped the meter, the meter is damaged, you want to check that your GlucoMen areo sensor meter and sensor strips are working properly when you first use them after purchase, or any time you want to check that they are working properly before a blood glucose test.
Insert a new GlucoMen areo sensor into the sensor input aperture. The drop symbol will start flashing on the display and the "glu" glucose symbol will appear on the bottom left. If nothing appears on the display, remove the sensor, insert it again in the opening and wait for the drop symbol to start flashing.
Enable CTL mode.
Gently act the bottle of the control solution before using it for the test. Delete a drop before use. Apply a drop of control solution on a clean, rigid and dry surface.
Hold the tip of the sensor in contact with the drop of control solution until the control viewer fills. You will hear a beep (if enabled) and the display will count down.
Check that the test result falls within the acceptable range indicated on the GlucoMen areo sensor test vial label.
If it does not fall within the range, check that no errors are made in the procedure and then resume the test with the control solution.
To remove the sensor, press the expulsion button. The tool will turn off.
Chetonemia test
Introduce a new GlucoMen areo beta-Ketone sensor (light purple color) in the opening for sensor input. The drop symbol will start flashing on the display and the "Ket" ketone symbol will appear on the bottom left. If nothing appears on the display, remove the sensor, insert it again in the opening and wait for the drop symbol to start flashing.
Keep the sensor end in contact with the blood drop until the control visor is filled. You will hear an acoustic signal (if enabled) and the display will display a countdown.
Read the test results. An acoustic signal will announce the appearance on the screen of the test result with the "Ket" ketone symbol. The symbol will flash until the instrument is shut down.
To remove the sensor, press the expulsion button. The tool will turn off.
Beta-cheton test using the control solution
Perform a control test if: it is suspected that the instrument or sensor GlucoMen areo beta-Ketone sensor does not work properly, the instrument has fallen, the instrument is damaged, the test results of the beta-Ketone are not consistent with the condition of perceived saliti, you want to verify the correct operation of the instrument and the sensors GlucoMen areo beta-Ketone sensor to the first use after the purchase or at any time you wish.
To perform a beta-ketone test with control solution, proceed as follows: Insert a new GlucoMen areo Beta-Ketone sensor into the sensor insertion port.
The drop symbol will start flashing on the display and the "Ket" ketone symbol will appear on the bottom left.
If nothing appears on the display, remove the sensor, reinsert it into the opening and wait until the drop symbol starts flashing.
Enable CTL mode.
Gently act the bottle of the control solution before using it for the test. Delete a drop before use. Apply a drop of control solution on a clean, rigid and dry surface.
Keep the sensor end in contact with the drop of the control solution until the control face is filled. You will hear an acoustic signal (if enabled) and the display will start the countdown.
Check that the test result is in the acceptable range indicated on the aluminum blister of the GlucoMen areo beta-Ketone sensor.
If it does not fall into the inert, check that no errors have been made in the procedure and then repeat the test with the control solution.
To remove the sensor, press the expulsion button. The tool will turn off.
If your blood glucose test result is abnormal compared to previous results or is not compatible with your perceived health status: repeat the test using a new sensor;perform a control test using GlucoMen areo control control solution;take another vial of sensors and repeat the test using a new sensor.
If the result of chetonemia test is abnormal compared to previous results or is not compatible with the state of health perceived: repeat the test using a new sensor; perform a control test using the GlucoMen areo ket control solution; take a sensor from new alumina blister and repeat the test using the new sensor.
Warnings
The tool comes with preset time and date. At first use, before testing, make sure that the time and date are correct and update if necessary. Always check the settings after replacing the batteries.
To achieve accurate test results, before checking the blood glucose or beta ketone levels, let the instrument, sensors and the control solution follow the conditions of the surrounding environment for at least 30 minutes.
Do not store or use the instrument where: the temperature could fluctuate in a sudden way; moisture is high due to condensation (bathroom, laundry, kitchen, etc.); you are in the presence of a strong electromagnetic field (near a microwave, a cell phone, etc...).
Keep the tool away from the reach of children. Button batteries can be a danger of suffocation.
Do not use if the instrument has fallen or liquids have penetrated inside; even when the tool will be dry again.
Avoid the contact of the hands with the opening to insert the sensor into the instrument. Inside the instrument a thermosensor is housed to minimize errors.
During the test do not connect the USB cable to the USB port for data transfer. The tool could damage and give results of the imprecise test.
Do not apply the blood directly into the opening to insert the sensor into the instrument.
Do not share the tool with other people to avoid the risk of infections.
The instrument meets the applicable electromagnetic emissions (EMC) requirements.
Do not perform a test near mobile devices or electrical or electronic equipment sources of electromagnetic radiation as it may interfere with the proper functioning of the instrument.
Don't freeze.
Avoid exposure to heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
Cleaning and conservation
After use, close the sensor bottle and the control solution bottle to preserve its quality.
Store the instrument, sensors, control solutions and manuals in the case and store in a dry place.
The correct storage temperature ranges from -20 to 50°C for the instrument and from 4 to 30°C for sensors and control solutions.
The tool does not need a particular cleaning.
If the instrument gets dirty, clean it with a soft cloth moistened with a delicate detergent.
To disinfect the instrument after cleaning it with 75% ethanol or diluted domestic bleach ( 10% solution of sodium hypochlorite).
