Oftaial Plus
Description
Hypotonic solution for instillation on the eye surface or contact lenses, especially in the presence of symptomatology from “dry eye”.
Thanks to the high hyaluronate sodium content (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, Oftaial Plus humidifies and lubricates the eye surface and reduces the risk of instability of the lacrimal film. Moreover, the peculiarity of the composition of Oftaial Plus consists in the presence of taurine, the physiological amino acid more abundant in the lacrimal fluid and in general in all the tissues of the front segment of the eye.
Therefore, Oftaial Plus, although not having a pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from the possible damage caused by particular conditions that can cause the occurrence of the so-called “dry eye”, such as:
- adverse weather conditions such as wind, cold, sun, salsedine, air conditioning, smoke, smog or thin dust
- special conditions of ophthalmic stress due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work to videoterminals or microscopes.
The lubricant action is also useful when, in particular physical conditions or as a result of the taking of certain drugs, tearing is reduced as for example in menopause and during the treatment of diabetes.
In addition, in contact lens holders, Oftaial Plus allows to lubricate and hydrate the lens itself to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a feeling of comfort during the day.
Mode of use
Oftaial Plus should be dosed individually according to its state and according to the recommendations of its ophthalmologist.
In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution in the joint sack of each eye at the time of need, even several times a day.
For use on contact lenses: instill a drop on each lens at the time of application or removal. Repeat in case of need, even several times a day.
How to apply Oftaial Plus:
- detach a single bottle from the strip
- to open the bottle remove the upper aletta by turning it, taking care to place it on a clean surface so that it can be reused for the subsequent closure of the bottle
- instill 1-2 drops of Oftaial Plus in the joint bag of each eye, letting them fall from above
- close the bottle immediately after use.
Composition
100 ml of solution contain: sodium hyaluronate 0.4 g, taurine 0.5 g, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium phosphate monobasic, sodium bibasic phosphate, water for injectable preparations.
Warnings
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to components or other substances closely related to chemical.
Oftaial Plus is only for external use.
Oftaial Plus should not be used immediately before the administration of medicinal products for healing purposes, and in ten minutes after the application of any pharmacological therapy by topical means.
To reduce the risk of contamination during use it is appropriate to open the aluminum envelope only in case of immediate use of the product.
Each bottle must be used by one person.
Avoid that the tip of the bottle comes in direct contact with your fingers, with your eye, with the contact lens or any other surface.
Also avoid that the tip of the bottle comes in contact with dirt or dust.
In rare cases, a slight disbursement of the view to instillation has been observed, which is due to the density of the solution. This feeling, however, disappears very quickly.
It is possible to occur, in some rare case, of intolerance (a sense of burning and/or irritation), however without consequences, which does not require modification of the treatment. It is recommended, however, to contact your ophthalmologist in the case of protracting symptoms.
Compliance with the instructions contained in the leaflet reduces the risk of unwanted effects.
Do not use the solution after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Keep out of reach of children.
Conservation
Oftaial Plus must be kept at a temperature between 22°C and 25°C.
Each container is suitable, thus allowing repeated administrations of the solution which, however, being free of preservatives, must be used within 24 hours of the first opening.
The expiry date refers to the intact and properly preserved product.
Deadline for storage from the date of delivery, in integral packaging: 24 months.
