ALGISITE M
Calcium Alginate Medication
Description
ALGISITE M is a sterile calcium alginate-based dressing consisting of an absorbent tablet of 100% calcium alginate nonwoven fibers whose structure minimizes the detachment of the fibers themselves and increases the cohesion strength of the dressing.
The soft and natural material conforms to the bed of the wound and promotes the humid environment on the wound. Minimizes trauma to wound and patient removal; easy removal and in one piece.
Indicated for partial and total lesions, with excreted from moderate to high, also tending to lower bleeding, such as: decubital ulcers, lower limb ulcers, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, oncological injuries, burns. It can be used in association with compressed therapy in lower limb ulcers, where indicated. It facilitates the control of haemostasis in case of slight bleeding.
The dressing has high absorption capacity and effectively retains fluids even under compression. Hydrophilic fibres absorb up to 10 times their weight and retain the exudate while avoiding losses. It is easily applied thanks to softness and high conformation and is easily removed in one piece thanks to its structure designed to reduce the risk of fiber release.
Minimizes trauma to the wound and pain to the removal for the patient.
The dressing can be cut out to conform the dressing to the wound bed.
The product does not contain natural resins and rubbers (lattice) that represent an allergen potential.
It does not contain phthalates.
Mode of use
Carefully read the instructions for use before use.
The dressing, in contact with the wound:
1. absorbs the exudate vertically while controlling the horizontal dispersion to prevent episodes of maceration of the perilesional skin;
2. it freezes quickly, forming and maintaining on injury the humid environment that favors healing. In particular, when ALGISITETM M absorbs the exodus present in the place of injury, the sodium ions of the exodus replace the calcium ions in the alginate that turns into a soft gel that conforms to the bed of injury.
The average duration of the application varies from 1 to 7 days, in relation to the conditions of the dressing. The frequency of replacement of the dressing depends on the conditions and nature of the injury. Usually, in very exudatory or infected injuries, the dressing should be changed daily, decreasing up to two a week with the progress of healing.
