Description
Medical device CE Class IIB. Sterile. Sterilized to ethylene oxide with process validated according to EN 550:1994, ISO 11135:1994 and ISO 109937:1995 for EtO residues. Don't resterilize. Bioburden: 79 CFU. The sterility of the individual packaging is guaranteed for 3 years, from the date of production, provided that it is integrated, i.e. it has not been opened or damaged.
Absorbent polyurethane foam medicine with soft silicone contact layer with selective microadhesion. Mepilex is designed for a wide range of exudatory wounds such as lower limb ulcers, pressure ulcers and traumatic wounds, such as skin lacerations and wounds that heal for second intention.
The action of Mepilex determines a control of exudates and the maintenance of the humid environment ideal for wound healing. Mepilex absorbs the exudates vertically. Mepilex thanks to the Safeatc technology contact layer, minimizes removal trauma, protects perilesional skin, thus preventing maceration. Mepilex can also be used in combination with gel and under compressed bandages. Mepilex can be kept in situ during the Hyperbarian Oxygen-Terapia. It can be removed and repositioned without losing its microadhesion characteristics. It can be left in place for several days (up to 7) in relation to the condition of wound and perilesional skin. Flexible, conformable, cut-out.
Safetac is an exclusive soft silicone proprietary technology from Mölnlycke Health Care, which minimizes patient pain and injury: does not adhere to wet surfaces, such as open wounds but to dry edges of injury; adapts to the irregular surface of the skin to create a greater contact area, which allows better distribution of the force necessary for removal, preventing skin stripping; seals the margins of the lesion, avoiding the exudate to spread on the perilesional skin, minimizing the risks of maceration; leaves no residue on the bed of the lesion, nor on the perilesional skin.
Mode of use
Clean the wound according to routine procedures. Allow the skin to dry. Open the package and remove the protection card. The correct removal of the film allows a sterile application. Apply the “Safetac” side of the dressing on the wound. Don't wear dressing. Place the product with a margin of at least 2 cm beyond the area to be treated (to measure 10x10) and 5 cm for larger measures to protect the perilesional skin from maceration and excoriation and be able to secure the dressing. Mepilex can be cut according to the area to be treated. If necessary fix Mepilex with a bandage or other fixing system. During removal, gently lift one side and slowly remove the dressing.
Components
External film in water vapor permeable polyurethane and waterproof to liquids and bacteria. Absorbent and flexible cell polyurethane foam with vertical absorption. Contact layer with soft silicone wound (Safetac Technology).
Warnings
For external use. In case of infected wounds, use under medical control is recommended. In case of sensitization of the treated area or clinical signs of infection, consult the healthcare staff. Do not use Mepilex along with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide (oxygenated water). Do not use in patients sensitive to components. The product is generally well tolerated. No interaction detected with other substances.
Conservation
Store at room temperature protected from extreme conditions of moisture, dust, pollutants, etc.
Validity of packaging: 36 months.
