T-VEDO
Thermometer Mercury Free
DescriptionClinical thermometer without mercury. Medical device class Im.
Useful to the clinical measurement of body temperature when placed on the axilla or oral or rectal site. T-Vedo is equipped with a case that facilitates temperature reading through the innovative accessory that acts as a magnifying glass.
Mode of use
To bring down the liquid metal column in the T-Vedo model, securely tighten the final part of the thermometer between the thumb and the index and be careful not to crush it too much and not to hit against anything, shake the thermometer several times down, until the column of liquid falls below 36°C.
Axillary (setting it under the arm): if you place the thermometer on the armpit you get a surface temperature that can vary approximately between 0.5°C and 1,5°C compared to the rectal temperatures in adults. Once the thermometer is placed, the patient must keep the arm locked to the body, without exerting pressure but ensuring a contact between the bulb and the axilla. The average measurement time for this method is about 5 minutes. It should be noted, however, that an exact reading cannot be obtained if, for example, the armpits have cooled. In this case, it is recommended to extend the measuring time of about 2 minutes to obtain as precise reading as possible that corresponds as much as possible to the body temperature.
Oral (positioning it in the mouth): in the mouth there are several hot areas. In general, the oral temperature is 0.3° C - 0,8° C lower than the rectal temperature. To ensure a read as precise as possible, place the thermometer tip on the left or right of the language root. The tip of the thermometer must be in constant contact with the fabric during reading and should be placed under the tongue. Keep your mouth shut during reading and breathe regularly with your nose. Do not eat or drink anything before measuring. The average measurement time is about 3 minutes.
Rectal (positioning it in the rectum): this is the most accurate method from the medical point of view, as it is the closest to the body temperature. The tip of the thermometer is inserted with caution in the rectum for a maximum of 0.5 cm. The average measurement time is about 3 minutes.
1. The liquid metal column must always be carried below 36°C before starting a measurement.
2. Before use, proper cleaning/disinfection/sterilization of the thermometer (depending on the type of application, the environment where used and the single or promiscuous use). Sterilize in alcohol for medical use or plastic sterilization tubes.
3. In case of rectal measurement it is advisable to apply a specific lubricant before insertion.
4. You should avoid doing physical activity, as well as bathing, eating or smoking at least 30 minutes before measuring.
5. Avoid measuring axillary after application of refreshing deodorants or with silver particles or other. Their application may interfere in part with the correct measurement.
Warnings
1. The use of clinical thermometers for oral temperature measurement is absolutely not recommended in children under 10 years of age.
2. Patients in which the thermometer is applied at an oral level, should pay maximum attention to avoid chewing, speaking, playing, running or moving until the thermometer is removed from the mouth.
3. The rectal use of the thermometer on children should be applied in a quiet environment, under continuous control and supporting the thermometer with a hand to prevent the same from penetrating too deep or sliding outward.
4. Always check at least once a year, the structural integrity of the device.
