Description
Folate (folic acid) contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine; contributes to normal emopoiesi and the growth of maternal tissues in pregnancy; supplementary intake of folic acid increases the state of the maternal folate, a low state of the maternal folate is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the fetus*.
*The target population consists of women in fertile age; the beneficial effect is obtained by taking, daily, 400 mcg of folic acid, at least one month before and for the three months after conception.
