TEST STREPTOCOCCO A
Description
Quick test for group A streptococcus detection in throat infections.
The infection of the beta-emolytic streptococcus throat of group A (also known as Streptococcus pyogenes) is the most common bacterial cause of acute pharyngitis and is also responsible for some skin infections such as impetigo and erysipela. Most of the sore throats are caused by viral infections that resolve themselves alone without antibiotic treatment, which would be useless. While streptococcus throat infections Sometimes may disappear in a few days without treatment, doctors prescribe antibiotics to prevent related complications that may be serious, such as rheumatic fever or acute glomerulonephritis. TEST STREPTOCOCCO A is a specific immunological test for detecting group A streptococcus bacteria in throat infection. It helps to quickly know if the throat pain is caused by a streptococcus A or other germs (usually virus) that do not require antibiotic treatment.
Mode of use
1. Place the contents of the box on a clean, dry and flat surface (e.g. table).
2. Wash your hands thoroughly. Use soap and warm water.
3. Place the extraction tube in a work station hole.
Relief sample of pharynge buffer
4. Gather a sample from the throat using the buffer and the lower tongue provided:
a. open the box containing the lower tongue and place it close;
b. open the box containing the pad and extract it by seizing the plastic handle.
Avoid touching with your hands the absorbent cotton tip of the tampon;
c. put in front of a mirror, tilt the head backwards and open the mouth as wide as possible;
d. using the lower tongue with one hand, press the tongue and with the other hand brush the soft cotton ball on the back of the throat, around the tonsils and on any reddish dolent areas (ugola, soft palate) to collect a sample.
Of course, you could ask some people to help you collect samples.
Test procedure execution
5. After collecting the sample of the throat, insert the absorbent cotton tip of the tampon into the extraction tube placed on the work station.
6. First open the dropper bottle with blue cap (unscrew only the blue cap and leave the white cap well closed) containing the extraction solution 1, dispense 6 drops in the tube and close the bottle.
7. Then open the dropper bottle with green cap (just screw the green cap and leave the white cap well lost) containing the extraction solution 2, dispense 6 drops in the tube and close the bottle.
8. Keep the pad for the plastic handle and rotate it carefully against the wall of the tube (about 10 times) to mix the solution. Leave the swab inside the incubation test for 2 minutes minimum and 5 minutes as maximum.
9. At the end of incubation time, remove the test tube from the socket (with the swab and liquid extracts still inside the tube) and, using the thumb and index press the wall of the test tube to squeeze the cotton tip of the pad so as to collect as much liquid as possible (procede in this way by removing the swab from the test tube). Discard the swab in a special waste container and place the pipe with the extract in a work station hole.
10. Open the aluminum protective envelope, hold the strip for the blue end and insert it into the tube containing the extracts. Leave it inside the test tube for 5 minutes (minimum) to 10 minutes (maximum) so that the reaction takes place.
11. Read the result immediately after the reaction time has passed.
Interpretation of results
1. Positive result
Two (2) red/violet lines appear on the strip. The color intensity of the lines could be different. This result is positive and means that streptococcus A was found in the sample of the throat and that you should consult a doctor.
2. Negative result
Only one (1) red line (control line) appears near the blue end of the strip. This result is negative and means that streptococcus A was not found in the sample of the throat or was not sufficiently concentrated to be detected.
3. Inconclusive result
If there is no visible red line near the blue end of the strip handle (control line), the test is not valid and must be repeated using a new test and a new sample of the throat.
Warnings
1. This test is intended for in vitro diagnostic use. Only for external use. Don't swallow.
2. Read the instructions carefully before running the test. The test is interpretable only if the instructions are scrupulously respected. Strictly follow the indicated reaction time, collecting the swab sample and extraction phases.
3. Do not use after the printed expiration date on the label and the protective envelope or if this envelope is damaged.
4. Do not reuse the TEST STREPTOCOCCO A.
5. Keep out of reach of children.
6. After use, all components can be thrown into a garbage can.
7. Not suitable for children under 2 years of age.
8. If liquids come into contact with eyes, skin or other mucous membranes, rinse immediately and abundantly with water and contact a doctor.
9. Do not ingest liquid extract and other parts of the box. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately and bring the remaining parts of the box along with instructions for use and packaging.

Store between 4 °C and 30 °C. Don't freeze.
