Description
Cardiovasal regulator, coronary dilator and as a heart trophism modifier.


The hawthorn contains essential oil, krategic acid and other active ingredients of which three groups of substances have been isolated:
1) - pentacid triterpenic compounds
2) - glucoside compounds with flavonoid structure
3) - catechins, phenolic acids and aminopurins. All these substances intervene to give the plant an hypotensive action (croro-dilating action of ursolic acid), tonogenous on the heart muscle, thanks to the action of substances with flavonic structure (quercetin and vitexin); these substances would promote calcium reabsorption at the heart muscle level acting above all on the c-AMP-phosphodiestarase enzyme and thus determining tonic action on the heart; finally, another active ingredient (crategic acid) would directly affect heart trophism by acting on the metabolism of lactic acid and on the oxidation of pyruvic, citric and succinic acid.
