Descrizione Clinica
The Mesitran Soft
Description
Class IIb medical device.
L-Mesitran Soft is a gel that contains: 40% medical grade honey, medical grade hypoallergenic lanolin (Medilan®), propylene glycol, PEG 4000 and vitamins C and E. When the gel comes into contact with the wound, the fluids are recalled by the surrounding tissues for osmosis. This creates an optimal damp environment for wound healing, stimulating the healing process. The gel prepares the wound bed by facilitating the autolysis of the necrotic material and other devitalized material and promoting a better migration of epithelial cells.
- Thanks to strong osmotic activity, L-Mesitran Soft has antimicrobial properties.
- The gel will gradually dilute and can be easily removed according to local wound cleaning protocols.
- L-Mesitran Soft is a primary wound medication that can be covered with the most commonly used secondary medications.
- The properties of the gel also help prevent the adhesion of the secondary dressing to the bed of the wound.
- Being produced with natural ingredients, each batch of gel can vary in color (white - yellow - brown), keeping its properties unchanged.
- The gel may contain sugar crystals, however this will not affect the effectiveness and/or application.
Indicated for:
- chronic wounds;
- pressure ulcers (Stadium I-IV);
- venous ulcers from stasis;
- fungal wounds (to help deodorate and/or hurry);
- acute colonized wounds;
- surgical wounds;
- postoperative wounds;
- traumatic injuries (surface wounds, cuts);
- small burns and laser wounds (surface and partial thick burns).
Components
Eco-honey, medilan, propylene glycol, PEG 4000 (macrogols), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), vitamin E (DL-alfa-tocopherol acetate).
Warnings
It is not indicated for:
- third degree burns;
- patients with a known honey sensitivity or any other component;
- dirty, infected and highly exudatory wounds (must be cleaned first);
- deep and narrow cavities.
- Due to the low pH of the dressing, some patients may notice a slight transient burning during the application of the dressing. If the burning persists and cannot be handled with an analgesic, remove the dressing, clean the area and stop the use.
- During the initial use of the dressing (depending on the levels of injury excretion, interstitial liquid and edema surrounding the wound), the high osmolarity of the dressing can help to increase excretion. This can be handled by adjusting the frequency of change of dressing according to the level of exudate.
- Bacterial colonization in chronic wounds is always present and is not a contraindication to the use of L-Mesitran Soft.
- During the healing process, due to the autolithic debridement, it is normal that the non-life tissue removed from the wound brings a consequent initial increase in the size of the wound. Although an initial increase in size can be attributed to normal removal of non-vital tissue, consult a doctor if the wound continues to grow after the first changes in medicine.
- After removing the medication, if the material remains on the wound, deterrent the wound with a suitable solution to the treatment until it is removed without difficulty.
Consult a healthcare professional if you notice signs of infection, which may include increased redness, increased pain, increased wound drainage, increased skin irritation and changes in color and/or smell of wound.
- When opening and applying the gel from a new container, make sure that the new container is not damaged or previously opened.
- L-Mesitran Soft is intended for use by only one patient. The container can be reused with the same patient.
- Always close the container after use.
