Description
Medical device for symptomatic treatment of constipation and for softening hard stools.
The main component of DulcoSoft is the macrogol 4000, a laxative with osmotic action. The macrogol has a high capacity to retain water. It acts as a water carrier and delays its intestinal absorption, resulting in an increase in the amount in the colon. Softens feces and increases their volume. This leads to accelerate intestinal transit and make evacuation easier, giving a natural and delicate feeling of relief from constipation and irregularity.
Macrogol 4000 has a purely physical mode of action: it is practically not absorbed by the body and is excreted unaltered.
From 6 months of age.
No aroma and no sugar.
Mode of use
Dilute with a drink to taste (about 150 ml): for example a glass of water or a juice or tea.
- Adults and children over 8 years: 20-40 ml of solution per day (equal to 10-20 g of macrogol 4000), to be taken preferably in one administration in the morning.
- Children between 4 and 7 years: 16-32 ml of soluzioen per day (equal to 8-16 g of macrogol 4000) to be taken preferably in a single administration in the morning.
- Children between 6 months and 1 year: 8 ml of solution per day (equal to 4 g of macrogol 4000), to be taken preferably in one administration in the morning.
For use in children under 8 years of age, please consult your doctor.
Measure the dose, which can be adapted on the basis of the effect obtained, using the dosing cup included in the package. The dose can be adapted to individual needs, without exceeding the recommended maximum dose: may vary from one intake per day to one intake every two days. The appropriate dose is sufficient to produce the regular evacuation of soft feces.
Components
10 ml of solution contain: 5 g macrogol 4000.
Other components: potassium sorbate (conservant), macrogol 400, citric acid, purified water.
Without gluten.
Without lactose.
Warnings
Do not hire DulcoSoft in case of:
- hypersensitivity to macrogol 4000 or any of the other components;
- severe intestinal inflammatory diseases (such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) or toxic megacolons;
- gastrointestinal drilling or gastrointestinal drilling risk;
- paralytic ileum or suspect of intestinal obstruction or symptomatic stenosis;
- painful abdominal syndromes of which the cause was not established.
As with all laxatives, before starting the treatment you must exclude the presence of organic disorders.
DulcoSoft should not be taken daily for prolonged periods of time without investigating the cause of constipation.
Consult your doctor in case of persistent abdominal pain.
In case of diarrhea, caution should be used in patients with water or electrolytic imbalances (e.g. elderly, patients with impairment of liver or kidney function or patients in treatment with diuretics) and an electrolyte control must be taken into consideration.
In patients who have taken products containing macrogol allergic reactions have been reported (such as anaphylactic shock, anaphylactic reaction, angioedema, hives, skin rash and hypersensitivity). If any of the signs or symptoms indicated, stop taking DulcoSoft and immediately consult your doctor.
DulcoSoft should not be taken for more than 7 days. If constipation persists for more time, you must investigate the cause.
Excessive doses of DulcoSoft can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension and vomiting, which resolve when you stop treatment or reduce your dose.
Strong liquid losses due to diarrhea or vomiting may require electrolytic balance correction. Under these circumstances, you must contact your doctor.
If you forget to take DulcoSoft, do not take a double dose to compensate for forgetfulness.
Undesirable effects found in adults and children: diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, fecal incontinence and flatulence.
Rarely they can occur: anaphylactic shock, anaphylactic reaction, angioedema, hives, rash, hypersensitivity.
In case of diarrhea, which generally disappears when suspending the treatment or reducing the dose, it may be appropriate to contact the doctor, because it may be necessary a treatment to avoid the loss of mineral salts (electrolytes) due to dehydration.
If any of the side effects gets worse, or if you notice the appearance of any unwanted effect not listed in the leaflet, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Conservation
Do not store at temperature above 25 °C. Do not store in the refrigerator.
Post-opening validation: six weeks.
